My Rug Wool comes from New Zealand. It is a blend of the Romney cross fleece which has the correct structure for rugs, carpets and soft furnishings. It is custom spun to my specifications for the purpose of rug making by hand and hand tufting. I have also knitted blankets and soft furnishings from my rug wool. It is also suitable for weaving.
I dye my wool by hand in small batches, and I often achieve tonal variations which create a wonderful result when made into a rug. Natural dyes may vary according to the source of the plants. All colours may vary from what you see, due to different screens and filters. For all of these reasons it makes sense to order the wool for the entire rug in one purchase.
Care Instructions hand wash with a Ph neutral wool mix, such as Martha Gardeners’ Wool Mix.
The rug wool comes in two thicknesses:
REGULAR RUG WOOL - for use with the regular punch needle to make rugs.
FINE RUG WOOL - for use with the mini punch needle, or plied two strands together for use in the regular punch needle. It is also suitable for hand tufting, I use two strands plied together in my hand tufted rugs.
Rug Wool will be shipped in 200g skeins as it is more efficient for shipping.
